Map of Paris

I got these at one of my favorite little Chelsea stores... Bon Maison. It's on 9th Avenue.

Here's a closeup:

Wedding Hobnail

I got a TON of gorgeous milkglass hobnail vases off craigslist for a steal...

All different shapes and sizes. Not sure yet about flowers but I got a dozen roses at a street stand to experiment with:

My Latest Craigslist Find

A nicely aged credenza.
Could refinish or just leave it as is... maybe drop a custom cut slab of marble on top.

Domino Dies

Home decorating magazine Domino has been sucking lately... and now it's gone kaput.
But I will miss it. I'm sure the staffers who got let go will too. Stupid economy. The New York Times has more here.

New York Antique Store

Olde Good Things in Chelsea is definitely worth checking out. On 24th Street btw 6th & 7th Avenues.

This is definitely a place to find hidden treasures.
It's somewhat famous for handcrafting mirrors using old tin ceiling tiles. They sell simple panels. Like these:

Here are some of their mirrors, which you can order online:

This is the one I got, and I love it!

They also show up at NYC flea markets... and some in California too.

Obama's pay freeze

Day one, President Barack announces he's freezing the salaries of White House employees making over $100,000 a year.

"Families are tightening their belts, and so should Washington," he says.

Mid Century Lux

I like them together, the black and brown work somehow. Listed on Craigslist NY here for $250 each.

Orla Kiely for Target

I've always liked (not loved) Orla Kiely's stuff. Like this rug, which I wanted for quite a longtime:

But I'm not sure about the whole target collection (available Feburary 1). It's just ok, to me. Although, the design blogoshere seems way into it. (apartment therapy, decor8, sfbybaygirl, doorsixteen, etc., very few negative comments).

He had a dream...

The Smoking Gun

Saw this at designglut. Too perfect.

Best Bed Bonanza

The never-ending search for a bed continues... My mattress has been on the floor for longer than I care to admit. And my bedroom is just not stylish enough to pull that off.

First I got the Tate Bed, but returned it. Too big for my nyc bedroom. For the record, I liked the bed. Then this, a cheaper and simpler option from Garnet Hill (but in "milk white" - no photo available). Returned it as well, because for some reason Garnet Hill's version of a queen bed is a lot larger than my mattress's version of a queen bed -- and there was a huge gap at the foot of the bed, dangerous for pillows and puppy dogs:

Now I might check this out... it goes on sale at Macy's this Wednesday:

Of course... there's always the old Ikea standby... the malmThen again, I could go a totally different route, with something like this from Anthropologie:

Too Much TV

So the list of shows set to DVR at this point is getting out of hand. Now that everything's starting up again, I'm realizing I'm gonna have to make some cuts. Here's what I'm looking at right now (not even including news).

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS.
Best show on tv right now. Yes it's true, believe it. Ok I haven't seen Mad Men, but still. Kyle Chandler is dreamy.

HOUSE.
I love Hugh Laurie.

TRUE BLOOD.
As a general rule anything on HBO is a safe bet.

BIG LOVE.
see above.

ENTOURAGE.
Exception to the above rule.

THE SOUP.
Makes me laugh out loud.

THE CLOSER.
Kyra Sedgewick.

THE DAILY SHOW.
Still funny.

MEDIUM.
I like supernatural shows, I realize.

GHOST WHISPERER.
Terrible. But see above.

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER.
Don't always watch, but that Neil Patrick Harris is a riot.

LOST.
I'm over it... but it still DVR's. I'll give this season a chance though. I just have no faith the insane plot will every be resolved and then it will be kinda like blue balls.

GREY'S ANATOMY.
Jumped the shark I think.

ER.
Old standby... take it or leave it. But if I'm bored it's there in the DVR.

PRIVATE PRACTICE.
Eh... it records for rainy days.

NIP/TUCK.
Out of control. Don't watch this show.

LIPSTICK JUNGLE.
Entertaining... like a new version of sex and the city without annoying Carrie. Plus, my hair cutter is head stylist (or something like that) for the show.

DOG WHISPERER.
True, almost every episode is the same... but sometimes I put it on for Leo to watch. He'll fixate his little puppy dog eyes for the full hour.

I need...

... some sort of chest to store extra blankets and pillows for guests.
This is a toy chest for kids from modmomfurniture ... but would do the trick.

Etsy: Fabulousmess

Etsy's "fabulousmess" is really hitting the spot.
These are soo cool. They're listed as Colbalt blue bohemian glass liquer decanter and glasses... from the 1940's-50's. I want to have a dinner party and use them. Someone buy them and tell me how it goes!

Fabulousmess also has this cute bench:

Etsy Find

These are cute. From Etsy seller sprucehome. Someone buy them!

Unique Lamp

I think i got this one at Marshall's in Chicago... I haven't seen many others like it, then again, I don't get out much

Craigslist Gem

Still not over my craigslist gem from last week.
This mid century lamp is marble/alabaster/brass. It weighs a ton.
The shade is not original... but I like it. Still, it might be too short for this lamp. Definitely cool though.
